Damascus University launched this December a new Academic Research Database (ARD) that will provide a much needed infrastructure to support researchers in the university community, and assist in alleviating impediments to research activities around campus. Prof. Rakan Razouq, DU’s vice president for Academic Research said that the availability of ARD will also facilitate the relevance of research to the country’s development needs, and will enable research to

document their findings through publishing them, or through participation in international conferences and forums in their field of expertise. One expected result would be enhancing the opportunities of researchers to be recognized internationally by applying for and obtaining awards for this work.

Managed by Du’s Directorate of Academic Research, ARD will document all research conducted by faculty and graduate students, in addition to their publications and contributions in conferences, patents, and researchers bio-data. Information on researchers in other institutions will also be available on ARD.
