Information Communication Technology Incubator announces its most recent contest, “An Idea Could Change the World” for the 2009-2010 academic year which begins the July 1st and continues until September 31st.

The Director of the ICT Incubator, Engineer Fadwa Murad explained that the projects entered in the contest must meet certain conditions as they are fourth and fifth-year projects. All entrants in the competition are students from Syrian public and private universities in faculties related to IT and communications, such as information technology, computer science, management of information systems, or any specialization so long as the idea of the project is based on information technology and communications.
She added that projects must be based on original ideas, or develop pre-existing ideas so that implementation of the project will lead to a practical model to be marketed. She also indicated that all projects be submitted under the names of all students involved, to ensure that neither the project nor any of its members has won an award in a similar contest for the Syrian Computer Society. Those wishing to participate may attain an application form from the ICT Incubator’s website. Applicants must provide updated information on the form and submit it to the ICT Incubator’s office or by email accompanied by three paper copies and a digital copy. The ICT Incubator announced the contest for the first time in 2007 with the conviction that distinction begins at the university level, thus it keenly encourages university students to think creatively by way of graduation projects built upon innovative ideas that can be developed into products with added market-value. The first three winners are awarded a monetary prize of 250,000 SL for first place, 200,00 SL for second place, and 150,000 for third place. There is also the possibility that the ICT Incubator will adopt the best ten projects after they have undergone the stages of acceptance
