DU President, Prof. Wael Mualla, met on 19 September with Dr. Christian Hulshorster, the director of the MENA region in the German Academic Exchange Agency (DAAD). Dr. Mualla discussed with Dr. Hulshorster and accompanying delegation the means of further enhancing cooperation with DAAD and German institutions of higher education in various areas of academic and research interests. DU president expressed the hope that DAAD will continue to support the Department of German Language & Literature at DU, through support with additional academic staff, especially because interest in enrollment in GLL is steadily increasing.
The first GLL class is expected to graduate in November 2011. Dr. Mualla added that a number of the top graduates could possible be further trained in preparation of future work with their alma mater.
The University President also stressed the importance of speeding ups steps to launch the Center of Higher Education Research at DU, in cooperation with the Kassel University, and with the support of DAAD.
Noting the high level of cooperation between DAAD and DU, DR. Hulshorster expressed the readiness of DAAD to support all academic and research projects at DU.
